A sky full of bright stars on a night chasing the northern lights. That faint glow above the mountains is a little bit of the Aurora, although it didn’t pick up much further. Still, listening to the peepers under those stars was time well spent.

Before venturing into the dark with my camera, I checked my weather app for the umpteenth time and noticed a new alert: “Coastal flood warning. Onshore winds and tides higher than normal.” They weren’t kidding! Waves were slamming against the shoreline and a tall, stony outcrop I had scouted the day before was nearly under water. It’s always an adventure pulling off these night shots.
